Lascassas is involved in many different ministries. The congregation has chosen these men to serve as deacons over those areas. These men lead the various ministry areas under the guidance of our elders and assist our elders in long-term planning. The deacons serve in not only making sure these tasks are completed but also in engaging the members in the various areas of service.
Along with the areas listed above, the leadership (elders, deacons, and staff) provide the congregation opportunities to serve in other ways. One example of this is our involvement in local, domestic, and international mission efforts. This is done not only through financial support but also through mission trips to various locations.
We are grateful that these deacons serve through their leadership in these ministry areas. We are grateful that they have prepared themselves for this service by modeling the Biblical teaching on deacons.
Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. Likewise their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. (1 Tim. 3:8-13)
